Campus software standards
Certain software packages are used in many colleges and departments
across campus. While other packages can provide the same functions,
there are significant convenience advantages to using one of the standard
packages. In many courses in which assignments are submitted in digital
format, it is expected that the files submitted will conform to these
standards.
Word processing
Current versions of Microsoft Word or Corel WordPerfect
Spreadsheets
Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, or Quattro Pro
World Wide Web browsers
Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer (available at
no cost on the UF Software CD; see below).
E-mail browser
Netscape Communicator or other IMAP or POP client (available at no
cost on the UF Software CD; see below).
Networking utilities
Dialup software, alternate e-mail clients, clients for ftp, chat,
news and other internet services, file readers and other utilities
(available at no cost on the UF Software CD; see below)
UF Software CD-ROM
Produced for the Spring and Summer B/Fall semesters each year and
contains current networking and communications software, some site-licensed
programs, and computer-based training materials. This CD is sold for
distribution costs only (currently $3.00 plus tax) and is available
at no cost to campus Housing residents.
